IT WAS THERE, UNTIL IT WASN’T

You may have heard about the FCDP’s purchase of a striking blue Harris/Walz billboard that was installed only to be taken down days later. What happened? Allegations of public pressure from local residents prompted the owner of Ewald Kubota, located just outside of La Grange, to request that SignAd remove it. It was too partisan. Our payment was returned—no harm, no foul, or so it seemed.
However, the situation reveals a deeper issue. Despite SignAd moving quickly to erect the sign without any initial concerns, the landowner—who operates 11 Kubota dealerships across central Texas—intervened. It raises the question: how could a simple, non-offensive message, essentially a giant bumper sticker, be perceived as so threatening? What sort of folks scare so easily?
Go Vote!

Recent events both nationally and in this community have prompted me to write and remind everyone the privacy of your vote is protected. Truly. No one knows how you vote in a general election unless you choose to share that information. If someone implies they can find out how you voted they are lying to you. Full stop. Your vote belongs completely to you and you alone. Your friends, neighbors, church family and yes even your family are not entitled to dictate how you vote any more than you would ever be entitled to dictate their vote. Your vote is your special privilege as a citizen of this wonderful country we all share. It is also your responsibility as a citizen of this great nation. So do your own thorough research using as many reliable sources as possible. Make up your own grownup mind. Then follow your heart to the polls and cast your vote with full confidence that your vote is yours alone. Your vote is private, it is protected and it matters. Go vote!

Your Precinct is listed just above your name and address and next to your birth year. If you don’t have one, don’t panic! You should go to the same polling location you used for the Primary Election (if you didn’t vote in the Primary and don’t know your polling location, you can call the Fayette County Elections Office and ask! 979-968-6563). Or just check the location here:
Democracy thrives when citizens engage in the electoral process, and every vote can tip the balance in tight races. So, make your plan to vote, encourage your friends and family to join you, and be part of the democratic process. Your participation is crucial for a healthy democracy!
