Letter from Mary Wolf, Fayette County Democratic Party, County Chair,
Dear Team,
As we dive into the last few months before the November 5th General Election, I want to share our plans for the upcoming weeks. Your involvement will be essential to our success.
Here’s what’s on the horizon:
Text Messaging: We’re gearing up for a robust campaign to spotlight the differences between our values and those of our opponents. Expect targeted texting efforts designed to boost voter awareness and engagement.
Phone Banking: Our first event will be held at the La Grange Library, 5:30-8:00 on Thursday 8/22 to learn how to “Phone Bank”. We’ll then split up to make calls to fellow Democrats about their plans to vote.
Voter Registration Drives: It’s crucial that we maximize our outreach to ensure every voice is heard in the upcoming elections.
FCDP Fair Booth: Plan on visiting our booth for fun, games, and prizes. This will help us connect with Fair attendees and communicate our key messages. (See details below)
Canvassing Efforts: We’re exploring canvassing opportunities to engage directly with our community through Door Knocking and Literature Dropping to our Democratic Party neighbors to educate and encourage them to make a plan to vote for Dems up and down the ballot.
We celebrate the Biden administration’s achievements, particularly in bringing our imprisoned citizens back home through thoughtful diplomacy and strong international partnerships. His focus on growing the middle class from the center outwards has been a remarkable feat benefiting all, even those whose elected officials voted against The Infrastructure Bill (i.e. Cruz & Cornyn and other Red states who now take credit). I’m confident that a “Harris Walz” ticket will continue this positive trajectory which stands in sharp contrast to the Trump administration's “Noninfrastructure Week” and so much else.
Details about our upcoming activities can be found below, so have a read through and think about how you can help! Your feedback and ideas will be crucial as we finalize our strategy and materials. So please contact us with your ideas and to volunteer at: fayettetxdemocrats@gmail.com or leave a message at 979-484-7925.
Thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the future by electing Democrats up and down the ballot on November 5th.
Best regards,
Mary

The predictions of chaos within the Democratic Party were greatly exaggerated when President Joe Biden, in a move of selfless patriotism, ended his 2024 presidential campaign and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the position. But chaos didn’t happen. With her strategic choice of Governor Walz as a running mate, the campaign is now charting a course toward an exciting new direction for our country. Across the nation, there’s a renewed sense of joy, hope, and deep motivation, inspiring many of us to volunteer and support this promising ticket on their journey to the Oval Office.
Let’s not forget we must also defeat Cancun Cruz and elect Colin Allred to the US Senate, help Theresa Boisseau replace Michael McCall in the US House of Representatives for District 10, and elect loads of other Texas Democrats!
While FCDP uses many “tools” to reach out to voters, there is an alternative means you have probably not thought about. It happens to be the most intuitive and yet the most difficult one to employ - talking about politics.
But, how do we talk to our friends, family, and neighbors on the other side of the political divide? These Braver Angels podcasts might suggest some answers to the dilemma we all have had before us. Click on the link to listen to what might just work for you:

FCDP is gearing up for the next three months to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. How can YOU help? Here’s the scoop!
*Texting Group* - Ongoing weekly message texting, training to be provided. This can be done in a group or in the comfort of your own home. How? When our text messages are automatically sent out, our job would be to watch for Responses. The current texting campaigns are designed to create awareness about the dangerous policies proposed by Project 2025; focusing on Educational Funding, Taxes, Health Care, Veterans, Abortion, LGBTQ Rights, and Environmental Regs & Protections. Additional messages will focus on the positive policy positions of the Harris/Walz campaign to protect our freedoms, families, and futures. In early October the messages will focus on GOTV.
*Phone Banking Group* - Save the Date - 8/22, La Grange Library, 5:30-8:00pm - Training and a simple Call Script will be provided to guide those conversations. We’ll be making calls to engage with strong and leaning Democrats to confirm their party affiliation, verify voter registrations, assist with applications for vote-by-mail and mail-in ballots, and organize get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts as we approach the November 5th General Election.
After a Phone Banking session with the CODA gals. Great to join in with them!
*FCDP Fair Booth* (Fayette Co Fairgrounds, La Grange, across from The County Store) 4 - 8pm Thursday, 8/29 - Sunday 9/1. Take a photo with Kamala! Meet candidates! Pick up campaign buttons, yard signs ($10)! ..and play the “Identify the Democrats” game! WIN THESE COOL PRIZES!

*Voter Registration Events* - La Grange, Saturday Farmers Market - Dates to be announced. We are searching for additional venue suggestions, so please let us know if you have ideas. (Local High School’s are being contacted to schedule Voter Registrations for those eligible students)
According to Beto O’Rourke’s voter registration initiative, Powered by the People, there are over 3 million eligible but unregistered Democrats in Texas! People who have moved and haven’t renewed their Voter Registrations, for one example. We know they are out there, so let’s help find them.

Always appreciate seeing you whenever the chance arises. These days are pretty busy though. Listening to the convention I though would never happen! Que bueno!!
I'll see you at phone banking this Thurs and also at your booth at the fair. Also hoping to be able to stay the whole time at Majek's this time since I won't have to dash back to Spanish class.
