On Saturday, Mary Wolf, County Chair & Lane Gosnay, Precinct 112 Chair and Dems101 Texas Coordinator traveled to College Station to spread the word about Dems101 and meet Tayhlor Coleman, Democratic candidate for US Congress District 10. The event was sponsored by the TX Democratic Women, Brazos Valley. (Read more about Tayhlor in the article below). Lane presented her with both the Democracy 101 book and The Democratic Creed card which was also distributed to everyone at the event. Lane was then invited to lead the group in reciting The Democratic Creed!
During Tayhlor’s talk, she used The Creed to highlight the purpose of government, especially in light of the tragic July 4th Flood event. One of The core principles of The Democratic Creed states that “The Purpose of government is to protect our nation, defend our democracy, and to endlessly promote the welfare of each and every one of us.” Both Mary and Lane were energized by their attendance and encourage all of us to participate in future events. FCDP is organizing a local Meet and Greet with Tayhlor soon. Stay tuned for more details!
Rural Summit Recap and Dems 101
Contributions by Mary Wolf, County Chair & Lane Gosnay, Precinct 112 Chair & Texas Dems101 Coordinator
We were recently honored to join a passionate team of volunteers at the inaugural Rural Texas Summit in Bastrop, hosted by The 134 PAC and the Coalition of Democratic Allies (CODA). This groundbreaking event gave us the opportunity to speak directly to fellow Texans and share the powerful and unifying message of the Democratic Creed. Our message resonated. Attendees were energized and eager to engage, many visited our table to learn more.
We proudly distributed 67 of the Democrats 101 books along with other essential resources, equipping rural Democrats with the tools to organize, advocate, and lead their communities.
Democrats 101 isn’t a new political group. It’s a movement of ideas and people: Democracy, not politics. It’s designed to complement, not compete with other political organizations and what they are doing to protect our democratic values.
Recently, FCDP sent out an email blast to 400 recipients, introducing Dems 101 and The Democratic Creed to county chairs across Texas, as well as to a range of Democratic organizations and leaders at both the state and national levels. Guess what? Our efforts at the Rural Summit and subsequent email blast were highlighted in two of the most recent issues of the Dems101 Newsletter. Our excitement and motivation were recognized by Jim Purvis, founder of Dems 101. Jim relayed that our actions helped to convince two new counties in two new states, Kentucky and Tennessee, to adopt The Democratic Creed!
We encourage you to personally adopt The Democratic Creed and SPREAD THE WORD as 95 counties and organizations throughout 16 states have done. Please visit DEMS101.org You won’t be disappointed! Help Save Democracy!

Americans across races, backgrounds, and parties value our freedoms. But this MAGA regime of the bullies for the billionaires has unleashed the military and law enforcement on our families and turned our government into a weapon against our people. Trump and the billionaires backing him are attempting a hostile takeover of our government and believe that if they can spread lies about immigrants, they can attack anyone who does not look, live, or love like them.
The MAGA regime aims to turn us against each other, scapegoating immigrants while they advance their assault on anyone who opposes their comprehensive agenda.
We must join together to #FreeAmerica from this assault, making it a place of liberty and justice for all, with no exceptions.
Let Me Introduce You To Tayhlor Coleman
and “Barb”, Her Van…(Coming Soon to La Grange)
Contributed by Annette Holdeman
This young woman is fed up and has declared "Enough!” To that end she has committed to unseating US Congressman, Republican Michael McCaul, who is now serving his 11th term representing Texas 10th Congressional District. It’s time for a change!
Her motto, “Listening to Texans, Driving for Change,” is more than just a catchy phrase, it’s a play on words that ties right into her campaign style having driven all over Texas in 2022 to register voters, in, you got it, her van “Barb”.
She and “Barb”, once again will literally be driving though out TX District 10 (Austin to Katy and up to College Station) meeting people where they are, hearing their stories, and sharing her plans. As mentioned, she has a bit of practice at this as chronicled in the 4/24/22 edition of Texas Monthly magazine as she and her trusty van “Barb” were determined to register Texas voters all over the state. Link: Tayhlor Coleman Didn’t Know How Hard Texas Made It to Vote—Until She Started Living the #Vanlife
A few quotes shared from her campaign website will give you a feel for what she’s all about, and it might just pique your interest:
“I don't have a big fancy campaign office or billionaire donors backing me, but I do have my van Barb. And over the course of this campaign my van will be my mobile campaign HQ as I drive every country road, stop at every farmers market, and hit every rodeo to talk to the Texans that DC has forgotten about.”
A little local history here, Tayhlor’s ancestors were among the newly freed black settlers of Washington County, people who built communities from the ground up, established schools, churches, became entrepreneurs, and held public office. You would no doubt be impressed by their resilience and the legacy they left behind. You can explore the history of Camptown at the exhibit in Belle’s Alley, downtown Brenham or take a deeper dive by listening to the Camptown Freedom Colonies audio at: Camptown Freedom Colonies Washington County Soundwalk Experience.
Now, she’s ready, ready to drive change in honor of her ancestors and the communities they helped build. Her website reflects that commitment, highlighting her mission to register voters and empower others to take part in the democratic process.
“Four years ago I moved into a van to honor that sacrifice. And I set out to register Texans to vote here, in the state that I love. Since then, I've met Texans of all stripes who are sick and tired of the divisiveness and corruption they see in DC. I found that many weren't motivated to participate in a political system that isn't tackling big ideas and doesn't seem like it's working for them.”
